A TEAM of consultants has been commissioned to examine how a once sleepy South Lakeland village can adapt to its continual growth.
The medieval village of Cartmel has now become firmly established as a ‘brand’ that has attracted praise an interest from a variety of notable sources including the New York Times.
It hosts a number of attractions including the Priory, L’Enclume, Cartmel Racecourses and the infamous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.

All this success has brought a number of challenges to the village for residents, visitors and businesses alike and in response a steering group has been formed called the Cartmel Township Initiative.
Consultants Allies & Morrison have been commissioned to undertake a holistic study of the village with the aim of identifying potential solutions to address the key issues relating to infrastructure and the continual growth of the local economy.
A public meeting has been arranged at Cartmel Priory Secondary School at 6.30pm on Tuesday (October 7) to allow villagers to comment on a series of recommendations being put forward.
