My hope for 2014 is for all children in the South Lakes who attend one of our excellent state schools.
I hope that they are all happy, safe and secure, enjoying a stimulating and worthwhile curriculum and I hope they will continue to be taught by motivated teachers valued by the students, parents, governors and politicians.
I hope that changes to the school system, curriculum and assessment are in the best interests of learners.
I further hope that South Lakes’ schools continue to be celebrated for their considerable strengths and successes by everyone from the Secretary of State for Education downwards.
Stephen Wilkinson, executive head teacher at Queen Katherine School, Kendal, and chair of the South Lakes Federation of Schools
