CHILDREN held a ‘Come Dine With Me’ event at the innovative café and bistro Green’s of Grasmere.
Grasmere Primary School pupils from Years 5 and 6 were mentored by Green’s owners Karen Healy and Rob Stuart over a number of weeks, culminating in a special lunch for parents and guests, at which the children prepared, cooked and served.
“It has been wonderful to work with Grasmere’s schoolchildren and present them with an opportunity to learn about the intricacies of food preparation and the benefits of good nutrition.” said Karen.
“We had great fun and they did a tremendous job.”
Headteacher Jo Goode said: "The children learned a range of skills such as the scientific and nutritional element of food groups, maths and social skills. We invited a number of people who help us out at the school in different ways and wanted to say thank you to them. We also owe a big thank you to Green’s team.”
