AN AWARD has been presented to the University of Cumbria's Radiation Protection department.
The excellence of the Foundation and its BSc Honours degrees was recognised as it won a Nuclear Training Award from Nuclear Engineering International Magazine.
The university’s programmes were developed in response to a recognised skills gap in the radiological protection profession and were specially commended for addressing an industry need.
Alan Marsh, Programme Lead and Senior Lecturer in Radiation Protection, said: “It’s vitally important that the level of academic qualifications are raised in the local area. This opens up more opportunities and helps to keep talent in Cumbria-based industries."
