DRESSED in zebra and crocodile onesies, two Sedbergh School pupils battled against wind and mud to raise money for Restart Africa.

Pupils and staff came out to support two lower sixth girls - Charlie Neate and Emilia Tyser - as they completed the gruelling ten mile Wilson Run qualifier course in the Howgill fells.

Charlie, 16, from Allithwaite, is captain of running at Sedbergh School and Emilia, 16, is captain of the first XI Hockey team. They form part of a group of eight pupils and three members of staff going to Kenya in June to stay at the Pembroke House School, Gilgil, near Nairobi.

“We finished the qualifier route in our onesies in about two hours and 45 minutes," said Charlie. "Considering the outfits and the muddy conditions, I’m both really happy and proud of this time.

Restart Africa aims to rescue homeless children from the streets of Kenya, provide them with a home, education, care and counselling and in addition equip them to work and flourish in their community

The girls have exceeded their target of raising £500 and are now aiming to add to their current total of more than £1,500.
