AN adult nursing student from Kendal has won the University of Cumbria's student of the year accolade.
Zoe Butler, 20, a former Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale, student was presented with the prize at the university's Students' Union Success Awards held at the Shap Wells Hotel.

The award is given to a student who has excelled in their studies or has overcome challenges to continue with their studies or to return to education. It was said that Zoe seeks every opportunity to engage with her colleagues and external agencies to improve not only their educational experience, but the health and wellbeing of her local community
"Itβs such an honour to win student of the year," said Zoe, who is currently on placement at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. "All the staff and students at UoC show such wonderful commitment that allows people to shine β I continue to use my passion for nursing to bring kindness, support and smiles to all of the work I do.β
