The overall and worth Champion was Espland Jordan Nancy consigned by DI & AA Cannon, Appleby. She was sired by Gillette Jordan and bred from Picston Shottle dam. She sold for 2,300gns to Barr Farm Ltd, Fife.

The February edition of the Border & Lakeland Pedigree sale day took place at Borderway, Carlisle on Wedesday 18th in front of a packed ringside of buyers who had travelled from the North of England, Scotland and N.Ireland. There was a buoyant trade for quality animals topping at 5,000gns with an overall average of £1781, heifers of less quality received a noticeable drop this month selling for or close to the £1000 bracket. Buyers who are in the market for genuine fresh heifers giving 30kg plus then the ring is still the best place for choice and value.

Topping the trade at 5,000gns was Lomond Windbrook Tory consigned by Jane Steel, Glasgow . Tory was a raw fresh two year old displaying enormous potential to develop into a big league show heifer in the near future. She was placed second in the heifer class and awarded Reserve Champion overall by Judge Gilmour Lawrie owner of the prize winning Brieryside herd in Ayrshire. Tory was bred from the famous Wilsondale Triuna cow family and will be the tenth generation of Excellent or Very Good cows, she now joins the Logan herd of Brian & Michael Yates, Castle Douglas.
