Another successful Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale kicked of the 2015 Autumn trade topping at £2100 with trade remaining firm. Buyers once again travelled from across the UK to a packed ringside with quality heifers in strong demand. There was a higher number of faulted and under conditioned heifers which were slightly more difficult to sell however demand continues to increase for quality animals with the potential to give large volumes of milk. Topping the trade in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale was an outstanding heifer consigned by R&A Harrison, Hazel Head Farm, Wigton. The Firm of Harvey, Drum Farm, Dumfries sold four excellent heifers topping at £1680 for a 40kg heifer. M&G Struthers, Bankhead of Balcurvie sold four heifers topping at £1650 for a milking heifer with a PLI of £319. Topping the cow trade at £1580 was SK  Morton, Long Meg, Penrith for a third calved cow giving 42kg. Changue Ayrshire Sale. The sale also included the first sale to disperse the famous Changue herd, now the longest registered pedigree dairy herd in the world.  55 of the most recently calved and close to calving animals were selected for this sale with trade topping at 2,100gns for Changue Theme 154. This perfect udder cow was freshly calved in her third and had just recently classified EX91. Changue Mirabelle 20 was next in the price list selling for 1,650gns.  She calved in April and was sold giving 19kgs. Selling for 1,420gns was a nice balanced cow from the much sought after Mary Rose family. Changue Mary Rose 102 was sired by Changue Pendulum and bred from five generations of Excellent or Very Goods. The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 9th September and features 300 head of top quality dairy cattle comprising 100 freshly calved cows and heifers and 200 heifer calves. On Saturday 12th September the South Threave herd will be dispersed comprising 280 head of pedigree Holsteins.

Forward 948 cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale, consisting of 535 Store Cattle, Store Bulls and Stirks, 293 Calves and 120 Dairy Cattle including 49 Ayrshire heifers forward for the 1st stage of the ‘Changue’ Dispersal Sale as well as 71 entered in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale. Tuesday 25th August. BROUGHTON opening sale of store lambs. A larger sale of 654 head was forward, whereby all classes sold to tremendous rates. Topping the sale was Messrs SC Gorst of Hoses Farm, Broughton-in-Furness with a tremendous pen of 10 Suffolk lambs selling to £58 per head.
