On Wednesday September 2, Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their weekly sale of 3,550 Prime Sheep, comprising of 2,066 Prime Lambs, 977 Cast Ewes & Rams & 507 Store Lambs. All classes of prime lambs took a massive rise is trade on the week, with the sale average up 22p/kg on the week.  Take advantage of our full ringside of competitive buyers. Topping the sale today at 226p/kg was a pen of Beltex lambs from Mr WH Brass, Low Row, purchased by Mr S Stodart, Wigton. Top price per head on the day was £103, this was paid for a single Texel lamb from Messrs JG & RW Nevinson, High House Farm, Pica, bought by Mr R Skelton. Calf trade was as good as ever, with more new customers here buying and selling from all over the district. Topping the sale at £470 was a Limousin bull calf from Messrs JH Capstick, Lockholme Hall, they also topped the heifers with a weaned Limousin at £450. Heifer calves topped at £420 for a British Blue from Messrs GL Armstrong & Son, Blunderfield.
