Kendal: Saturday, September 26 NWA J36 held their monthly collective sale of machinery and equipment on Saturday which included a special section for vintage machinery and agricultural bygones.

An entry of 15 tractors & vehicles saw a JD2650 2wd sell for £2650, a Landrover Discovery (V Reg) at £1300 and a Road Sweeper at £1000. Livestock equipment sold to £1200 for an I.W. Trailer, £1000 for an I.W Horse Box. A large entry of seasonal equipment saw a McConnel saw bench achieve £1000, Muck Spreaders to £750, Bomford Hedge Cutter £550.

The vintage and bygones attracted over 200 lots selling to £500 for MF Rear Wheels, £450 DB 2 Furrow Plough, Root Picker at £270, MF Grey Fergie parts at £200.

Over 900 lots offered and sold at this popular sale.

Friday, September 25 ROUGH FELL EWES SELL TO £170 The Annual Show & Sale of Rough Fell Ewes, Shearlings & Gimmer Lambs saw a rise in prices achieved with vendors leaving very suited with the day’s trade.

The pre-sale judging was conducted by Mr William Dawson of Sedbergh who awarded the championship rosette to NC & S Dodd, Flakebridge showing a pen of 3 crop ewes which were also awarded the North Sheep Trophy and The Rayne Cup. These later sold for a top price, for a pen of sheep, at £125 per head. The sale was lead however, by a flock dispersal on behalf of H Harrison, Brookfield who sold individual 2 crop ewes at £170, £160.

Revived interest in the breed saw well bodied ewes regularly £92 - £105 (averaging £83), shearlings £90-£100 (averaged £81) and gimmer lambs £58 - £64 (averaged £59).
