Motorists are being warned to take care on roads across South Lakeland after a string of accidents were cause by heavy snow today.
Snow and black ice have affected many major and minor roads in Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere, north Kendal, Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale.
In Grasmere, a car turned onto its roof on the A591 at Dunmail Raise.
Martin Campbell, of CumbriaLive.tv, said: "There was absolute mayhem.
"There were cars all over the place."
There are also delays on the A591 at Windermere Between A5074 High Street and B5284 Crook Road.
Traffic came to a stand still this morning after heavy snow fell in Shap.
Motorists approaching Shap summit on the A6 were forced to abandon their journey for a short time this morning after heavy snow made the road impassable.
There wer also reports of the an accident involving a lorry and a car on the B6261 at Shap.
