THE congregation of St John's Methodist Church in Settle moved into a new building in December last year - and it has just said a final farewell to the old place of worship.
Demolition work on the former St John's church building, near the railway viaduct in Church Street, is under way, bringing to an end an era that lasted for 122 years.
Worshippers held a special service and weekend of celebration to mark the opening of the new church – an annexe to the church hall – in February.
The church also held an 'open house' in the same month for people to view the new facilities and to find out more about the community groups that use the premises.
The site of the former church is to be redeveloped for residential use by Keighley-based construction company Wooler.
