LETTER: Edward Short was from Warcop
For John Bateson’s information (Letters, July 23, ‘Many served Labour cause’), Edward Short was not from Kirkby Stephen but from Warcop, eight miles north west.
He gives a vivid description of 1920s life there in his book ‘I know my place’, a punning title.
