ULVERSTON Rangers girls U14s were too strong for Kendal United girls U14s in a comprehensive 5-0 win in the Barrow and District Girls' League.

The game which was played on a bitterly cold Sunday morning in Kendal saw an impressive Ulverston Rangers team run riot, however Kendal played their part on what was a good game of football.

Kendal, managed by Geoff Rowlinson, caused problems for the visitors with both Kelcie Berry and Faye Garnett creating half chances on goal, however good defending and solid goalkeeping kept the score level.

Ulverston, who lead the way at the top of the division, were clinical in front of goal, and opened the scoring when Molly Braithwaite finished into the bottom corner of the net.

Kendal tried to be positive in their play, however they were unable to find a finish on goal as the wind continued to pick up while the temperatures dropped.

The visitors pushed and scored two further goals before half time as Braithwaite made it 2-0 with her second of the morning before Ellie Grahams clinical finish found the net as Kendal were 3-0 down at half time.

Despite the deficit Kendal kept going and just like in the first half they applied a lot of pressure on the visitors' defence without being able to score with both Garnett and Giselle Meschino making good runs into the penalty box.

However Kendal had a mad five-minute spell where they conceded two goals as Graham scored her second before Cassie Dixon made it 5-0 with a good finish past the keeper.

*The Westmorland FA County Under 10 Development Girls Team pushed a good Burnley team all the way on Sunday morning and despite losing 4-3 there were plenty of encouraging signs for the future.*
