This week's lead story struck a chord with me! (Gazette, April 16, 'Beauty spot dog walkers cause a stink').
Each day in my lunch break I take a walk up the lane opposite Country Harvest at Ingleton. I have been so disgusted by the litter that I now take a litter-picker and a bin bag with me every time.
I am being sponsored by staff, our customers, villagers etc, for my endeavours in aid of Ingleton Splash Zone, a new water feature planned for the village's outdoor swimming pool.
Since I started picking rubbish in February, I have probably collected nearly nine full bin bags - and bags of dog poo figure large in the collection.
Surely the difficult bit is picking up the poo in the bag. Why then hang it on a twig? Carry your poo with pride I say!
I've also found bags stuffed in dry stone walls, and under hedges (where presumably the perpetrator thinks it won't be seen!).
