LETTER: Nuclear weapons are the price in international influence
Trevor Pollard (Letters, December 3, 'Trident debate is essential') is mistaken in his view concerning the purpose of nuclear submarines and the Trident weapons they carry.
It is not to use them against defenceless people, but is the price of influence internationally and a place at the 'top table', where matters of global as well as regional and national significance are debated.
The weapons themselves - if no-one else knew! - might just as well be dummies.
