Here is an idea that would both save resources and give us all peace of mind.
This is the plan: No need for large numbers of highly-trained scientists across the world to continue conducting painstaking research with expensive precision instruments. No need for their detailed peer-reviewed reports on the many aspects of the subject.
No need for objective evidence-based conclusions and recommendations based on scientific method.
Instead politicians and other decision makers could simply read all the letters and blogs of climate change deniers and believe them instead.
They could then tell the public that it was all just a big mistake and that there is nothing to worry about. Then we could all smile a reassured smile and suffer no further inconvenience.
The fossil fuel industry would be pleased. The only downside is if the conclusions of all those pesky experts turn out to be right and the wishful thinking of the deniers wrong.
In that case future generations might consider us a little selfish and reckless for trashing their planet.
