Kendal Town Reserves 1

Stalybridge Celtic B 1

Galaxy Football League

AN 89TH minute equaliser denied Kendal Town Reserves all three points at Parkside Road against Stalybridge Celtic B.

Town went into the game with changes to the team line up, but they were dominant throughout the game.

As the first half progressed Kendal upped the tempo after a quiet start to the match, and James Ball tested the keeper from close range in the 22nd minute Aaron Helliwell almost gave Kendal the lead on 33 minutes, firing wide from close range, and Helliwell was a threat to the Stalybridge back line all game.

The only danger the opposition had was their number 10, who caused problems with his pace, as both sides went into half time goalless.

In the second half, Kendal pinned the visitors on the defensive, with Simon Neary heading over from close range.

Kendal’s attacking play paid dividends on 52 minutes when Jonathan McDonald’s curling shot from just outside the penalty box flew into the bottom left hand corner of the net, giving Kendal a deserved 1-0 lead.

Town pushed on for the second as Neil Uberschar fired over, and the Stalybridge keeper was forced into action numerous times, including palming the ball away for a corner following an Aaron Helliwell effort.

But with a minute left their ever dangerous number 10 nipped in from close range to score a scruffy goal past Matt Hilbourne in the Kendal goal.
