The Lakeland Climbing Centre can now offer subsidised climbing courses following the award of Olympic legacy funding through Sport England’s Sportivate initiative.
Sportivate climbing courses at Kendal Wall are aimed at young people aged between 11 and 24 years old who would like to learn how to climb.
The course includes registration for the NICAS part 1 (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) and aims to offer a basic bouldering induction and top-roped climbing training delivered by experienced instructors.
The first course is already running but the next six-week course will begin on Tuesday January 7 between 5:30pm and 7pm.
Sport England subsidy allows the course to be offered to participants for £30, which is half the normal price and works out at £5 for each 90-minute instructed session.
