Sefton Ladies 17 Kendal Wasps 49

KENDAL Wasps made it two wins out of two after a comprehensive away victory in Liverpool.

The Wasps travelled to Sefton in buoyant mood following last week's excellent 50-0 win over Garstang.

A few changes were made to the side due to unavailability but the Wasps' growing squad meant a squad of 19 travelled.

Kendal started brightly with strong early running from Hayley Hodgson leading to a penalty.

A quick tap was taken and Kerry Procter powered her way over the line for her first try for the Wasps.

Sefton then came into the game with their clever kicking game causing problems and pinning Kendal back. Two unconverted Sefton tries followed this spell of pressure.

The Wasps, however, fought back into the game with tries from Vanessa Temple and Hayley Hodgson before half time giving the Wasps a 21-10 lead at the break.

Sefton scored early in the second half with a well worked try showing how dangerous their back line could be and the try was converted bringing the score to 21-17.

That brought the Wasps to life and the last 30 minutes of the game were dominated by the Kendal side with their forwards and backs linking well with pace and power.

As Sefton tired they had no answer to the Wasps offloading game as Temple completed her hat trick, Hodgson added her second and Shannon Barnes crossed the line for a well deserved try.

All seven tries were converted by Abby Bland, including two from near the touchline.

Caz Clutterbuck was named forward of the match with Temple back of the match.
