KIRKBY Lonsdale captain Ben Walker has said his team will be approach their game away to Broughton Park on Saturday like any other despite being huge favourites.

The undefeated North One West side will go into the game on Saturday after a week's break on the back of a hard fought 24-19 victory against derby rivals Kendal Hornets.

On paper, facing the Manchester side should be a simple task, but following their thrashing of Leigh a couple of weeks ago, skipper Walker said there will be danger to prepare for.

He said: "You just never know in this league what team is going to turn up and we will prepare for it like we have with every other game.

"We've got to focus on taking care of the ball and obviously our defence needs to remain rock solid if we're going to keep up our winning record.

"The break came at the right time really as we've all enjoyed a bit of time off and have been able to have a couple of training sessions and focus on some team building.

"I think so long as we keep doing the same things as we did against Kendal we will be okay but they will give us a test."

The skipper also admitted that the World Cup mania had had a part to play in their tremendous run of form and he hopes that will continue following the All Blacks' victory over Australia in the final.

He added: "The World Cup final has certainly inspired us all, we have a couple of players from Australia and New Zealand who have been rugby mad recently.

"The All Blacks were just fantastic and I think we can all look at them and try and take something from it."

Kirkby have so far clocked up victories against the Hornets, Penrith, Carlisle, Widnes, Rochdale, Vale of Lune, Leigh and Blackburn.

Broughton Park however have had a bleak start to their campaign with the 41-8 win against Leigh being their first of the season.

Kick off for the match will be at 2:15pm.
