KENDAL Town has faced a pair of losses in their last two games and conceded seven goals in the league.

The team remain at the bottom of the Northern Premier League with just three points.

The Mintcakes were hit by a poor first half at the weekend after they lost 4-0 to Kidsgrove Athletic at a rain-soaked Parkside Road, before a difficult second half saw Kendal lose 3-0 to Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday night.

Kendal went into both games keen to get some points on the board.

However in Saturday’s defeat to Kidsgrove Kendal toiled while the visitors created a lot of opportunities before going 1-0 up after ten minutes when Anthony Malbon scored from close range following on from a mistake in the penalty area.

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure with Malbon and Will Whieldon going close before Whieldon made it 2-0 after 28 minutes with a stunning strike from distance which left Oliver Lombard stranded in the Kendal goal.

Kidsgrove went on to make it 3-0 after 42 minutes when the referee awarded a penalty after Tom Fagan brought down one of their players.

John Johnston converted the spot kick sending Oliver Lombard the wrong was as the visitors were out of sight at half time.

Kendal showed more spirit in the second half with Jack Milburn and Yvez Zama causing problems for Kidsgrove's defence.

However, despite Kendal best efforts, they were unable to create any meaningful chances in front of goal with Zama firing over from distance.

Kidsgrove going forward looked the more dangerous, and with just one minute left in the game Danny Cocks fired home to seal the win.

On Tuesday night, Kendal lost 3-0 to Runcorn Linnets with all goals scored in the second half.

However, for 45 minutes Kendal frustrated the visitors and played well after a bad start where Runcorn created the early opportunities.

Runcorn, who are in the top six, played most of the football, but Kendal defended well, and when they did have the ball, they forced a number of free kicks and corners.

However, the lack of an attacking threat up front saw Kendal struggle to test Joe Young in the Runcorn goal, with Milburn firing a tame shot into the grasps of the visiting keeper.

Runcorn came out in the second half and applied even more pressure before they went 1-0 up after 52 minutes when Iwan Murray cut inside the penalty area before firing the ball into the bottom corner.

The visitors created further opportunities from Rhian Hellawell and Iwan Murray before Ryan Brooke made it 2-0 after 71 minutes while Oladapo Olarewajus stunning strike five minutes later saw Kendal crash to defeat.

Kendal travel to Trafford on Saturday before they host Marine on Tuesday night.
