A Kendal teenager went to Manchester for the Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships and took home gold and silver as a result.
Sam Holladay, 16, joined his team Lake District BJJ Academy on the trip down.
Sam made the decision to enter the adult divisions.
He said: "Usually fighting as a juvenile you might get one or two different opponents, and as much as I want to win a medal, I wanted to fight as many people as I can so I can learn from the experience."
After 10 fights throughout the day, Holladay, who attends Queen Katherine school, came away with a gold and Silver medal, finishing the majority of his fights via submission.
Sam Kaye, the head coach of Lake District BJJ Academy, said: "Sam did a fantastic job at this competition. His hard training has really paid off and he has made huge progress both physically and mentally, he is a pleasure to have as a student.'
The rest of the team joined Sam in the success - bringing home a total of three golds five silvers and two bronze medals.
