THE Cumbria Golf Partnership has announced a new Junior Golf Tour aimed at 7 to 12 year old boys and girls with or without a handicap.

Jo Tinsley, the Partnership’s Development Officer, said “This Tour has been introduced to complement the various other junior golf events that are already in place around the county and aims to give those juniors who are new to the game a first taste of competitive golf.

“ And as more golf is now being introduced into the school curriculum and after-school clubs, it will also give these juniors who are not members of clubs an introduction into a club environment.”

The competition will be played over nine holes and there will be four qualifying venues, culminating in a regional final at Keswick Golf Club on Tuesday, August 31.

The four regional events are: Monday, July 26 - Workington Golf Club, Workington; Friday, Augus 6: Eden Golf Club, Carlisle; Thursday, August 12: Furness Golf Club, Barrow; Tuesday, August 17: Carus Green Golf Club, Kendal.

The application form can be downloaded from www.activecumbria.com/golf together with a copy of the tournament rules.
