*Bolton-le-Sands 157-5.

Burneside 156.

A POWERFUL unbeaten 70 from Mark Beaumont proved decisive as Sands upset Burneside with a five-wicket defeat.

Batting first, Burneside reached 40-1 in 15 overs but suffered with the introduction of David Loxam, who recorded a maiden 5-36 haul. Loxam took four wickets, including skipper Steve Cooper (20), while Robert Clarkson removed danger-man Simon Little for 19.

Burneside had slipped to 102-8 when Marcus Oates went on the attack, hitting two sixes in one over on his way to an unbeaten 45 out of a total of 156 all out after 43 overs.

Sands stuttered to 51-4 in reply after 24 overs, of which Cole made 33. Mark Clarkson was run out in unsually, lifting his bat while avoiding a fielder’s return that hit the stumps.

Beaumont struck two sixes on to the A6 and, with Derham, took the score ot 86-4. His big-hitting, together with Ireland’s support for 20 not out in a stand of 71, demoralised the opposition to seal the win in the 37th over at 157-5.

Beaumont finished 70 not out including six sixes.

*Trimpell 93.

Windermere 193.

WINDERMERE recovered from losing a wicket in the first over thanks to a robust second-wicket partnership of 66 between Oli Killiner (33) and Sam Fletcher (85).

Left arm spinner Cope (5-55) accounted for Killiner and Mike Lewthwaite quickly followed before James Crawford (27) joined Fletcher.

When Crawford became Cope's third lbw victim and Fletcher's excellent innings ended when stumped, it was left to Jo Stephenson (31no) to bat out the 45 overs for a total of 193.

In reply, openers Baldwin (29) and Storey (14) gave the home side a reasonable start, but when the latter fell lbw to Matt Park the door was open for Steve Carruthers (5-19) to weave his magic as the middle order collapsed, with four ducks in a row.

Good support came from James Crawford (4-39) and from some excellent fielding, with Lewthwaite's two catches in the deep outstanding.

A late flurry from Cope (24 no) and Burrow (10) was only a gesture of defiance as the Trimpell innings ended exactly 100 runs short of the target.

Kirkby Lonsdale 117-9*.

Milnthorpe 121-3.

ASKED to bat on a damp wicket, Kirkby started slowly as opener S. Williams was out for 15, but Russ Beaumont steadied the ship with a knock of 30.

It looked like the hosts would crumble for less than 100 as Bob Baldwin took six wickets for 29 in 16 overs, but Steve Troughton’s unbeaten 32 took them to 117-9 in 45 overs.

Milnthorpe had the worst possible start in response as Gary Singleton went for a duck in the first over and Mike Wills was out for six.

But Mike Curran (25) and Lee Illingworth (66no) got the visitors back on track and they claimed their 12 points in the 40th over as they reached 121 for the loss of just three wickets.

Shireshead 227.

*Arnside 112-7.

TITLE- hopefuls Arnside had to settle for the draw against a resurgent Shireshead.

A first-wicket stand of 64 by Tom Jacques (39) and Colin Twiname (47) got Shireshead off on the right foot.

Although Hodgson took 3-18 as Rob Charles (26) and David Jack (10) looked to build on the platform.

When the returning Alex Davidson (2-43) removed Mark Sutcliffe (5), Shireshead were 141-7 after 33 overs and in danger of squandering a good start.

However, Phil Oliver (53 from 33 balls) and Tim Mansfield (24) added 79 in 10 overs, Oliver taking 23 from one over and hitting five fours and four sixes.

When Arnside replied, Oliver (1-20) removed the dangerous Nobby Lee (4) and with Irfan Quayyum (4-35) enjoying his best spell of the season, the game depended on Arnside's star batsman Adam Richardson.

He struggled against Tom Jacques’ offspin (1-15) and he bowled Richardson (12) through the gate.

His dismissal prompted a successful rearguard action by Mike Shepherd (29not) and Barron(14no).

The only moment of incident was when the non-striker Shepherd dropped his bat and legged it, hurdling the new wall to the playground and then the wall on to the road.

The retained fireman was reporting for duty, pads and all. His place at the crease was taken by Davidson (3) who fell to Paul Yates (1-7), but unneeded on the rig, Shepherd was able to return to pour water on Shireshead's victory hopes.

Sedgwick 193-6.

Milnthorpe A 60.

SEDGWICK continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 133-run win against a below-strength Milnthorpe.

Put in to bat on a damp wicket, Sedgwick started slowly as openers M. Bracken and S. Dalzell put on 27 in 12 overs.

Runs continued to be hard to find as Coupe and Dickinson bowled tight lines on the low playing wicket.

With Bracken and Wilson back in the pavilion, Nick Dalzell upped the tempo for a well-deserved 53.

Willacy(29)and the youngest of the trio of brothers J.Dalzell (26)pushed the score to193 for 6.

Milnthorpe started positively with openers Pennington and James despatching anything short and wide. A. Matthews bowled Pennington and J Matthews had James caught.

From there on in stalwarts Halhead, Singleton and Wad Illingworth tried to stop the Sedgwick bowlers running riot as the visiting bowlers S. Willacy (3-9) A.

Matt-hews (3-8)and Bob Dixon (3-0) bowled the hosts out for 60 to claim 15 points.
