Kendal Town 2

North Ferriby United 4

Evo-Stik Premier Division

KENDAL Town produced a horrific defensive display as they were comfortably beaten by North Ferriby United at Parkside Road.

With the Yorkshire side not arriving at the ground until 3.30pm because of the M6 road closure, kick-off was put back to 4.30pm to give the away side time to get to the ground.

But it was Town who failed to arrive in the game as North Ferriby started the brighter of the sides - Ryan Kendal forcing a good save from Josh Welsby, who deputised for the suspended Craig Dootson in goal.

After nine minutes the side based near Hull took a deserved lead. Ryan Williams, who tortured Ed Williams on North Ferriby’s left hand side during the first half, crossed the ball in and Gary Bradshaw knocked the ball down for Kendal to apply a simple finish.

Danny Williams soon limped off for Kendal Town to add to manager Lee Ashcroft’s injury concerns, with Josh Kenworthy, Jack Duggan and Jordan Tucker injured midweek.

North Ferriby continued to attack and striker Kendal ghosted in between a Town defender and Welsby to take it around the keeper and finish into the back of an empty net as the away side doubled their lead on 28 minutes.

Taylor came on at half time and Town looked a bit livelier with him pulling the strings up top.

He proved that in the 56th minute when he turned his man brilliantly after a ball into the box by Kevin Leadbetter, and he confidently struck past Adam Nicklin to give the Black and Whites hope of a comeback.

But those hopes were dashed two minutes later as Kendal got his hat-trick. Bradshaw played the striker in as he took advantage of Town’s sloppy defending and he slotted the ball under Welsby to make it 3-1.

Kendal Town’s chances were limited although Leadbetter had an opportunity to lob the keeper when he had come out of his area to deal with a chance from the Black and Whites, but the number 11’s effort went the wrong side of the crossbar.

Every time North Ferriby came forward they looked like scoring as Kendal threatened to add to the hat-trick he had already bagged.

With five minutes to go, Town brought a goal back thanks to Russell Fry’s own goal from an Alex Randell corner, but barely a minute went by when substitute Jack Muldoon restored North Ferriby’s two-goal cushion.

Again Kendal failed to clear the danger and Muldoon had plenty of time and space to put the ball into the back of the net to give Ashcroft plenty to think about going into Tuesday night’s match against Marine.
