ARNSIDE moved above Westgate into second place in division one with a winning draw against Bolton-le-Sands as Adrian Lee smashed his way to 90.

With Westgate beaten at Heysham, Arnside jumped four points clear of those rivals but were unable to take full advantage against Sands.

Although Kevin Howarth was dimissed for just eight, Lee (90) and Adam Richardson (31) put on a quickfire 53 for the second wicket to seize control of the game.

By the time Oliver Hogg was out for 25, they stood at a promising 130-3.

Matthew Brockbank added 20 and Mike Shepherd 31 as Arnside declared on 252-7 in the 43rd over, with wickets being shared among the bowlers.

Sands got off to a steady reply as Alan Cole and David Loxam put 45 on for the first wicket but after Loxam and Ibbetson fell to Brockbank, Cole was left to anchor the innings.

His knock of 55 pushed Sands on but when he was out to Howarth and Mike Wolfenden and Mark Beaumont followed him, Sands were 155-6 with nine overs remaining.

Arnside sought to press home their advantage but Matthew Ireland (29no) and Adam Dyson (13no) had other ideas and batted through to the close, with Sands closing on 206-6.

Sam Calverley took 6-40 as Heysham shocked second-placed Westgate on Saturday.

Put in to bat, Westgate were in disarray at 46-7 as Calverley took the first four wickets, but they battled back with Garry Tattersall (13) and Dave Hughes (22) counter attacking.

Adding 43 for the last three wickets, Westgate were all out for 99.

Heysham struggled to get going in reply though and fell to 24-4 as Peter Wilson (4-26) gave the visitors a sniff.

But a captain’s innings of 26 from Jamie Antcliffe, supported by Mikey Barker (20) took the score to 80-4 and the took 12 points as they reached 100-6.

Jim Kettlewell took 7-71 as Kirkby Lonsdale got off to a great start against Shireshead, but they eventually succumbed and remain bottom of the league.

After choosing to bat first, Shires slumped to 83-7 before some clean striking from Phil Oliver (23) and Gareth Jennings (44) took them to 148 all out.

Kirkby put up a good fight after losing two early wickets and seemed to be cruising at 99-2, but Oliver (6-15) changed the game as Kirkby collapsed to 127 all out.

Warton maintained their title push with a 55-run victory at home to Milnthorpe. Ricky Nelson knocked 57 as the hosts reached 182-6, before they bowled out Milnthorpe for 127. Andrew Pennington made 59 for Milnthorpe but the defeat leaves them well off the pace.

James Crawford made a valiant 68 for Windermere, but it was not enough as Burneside chased down their 136 target for the loss of four wickets to take the 15 points.

Windermere were well placed at 70-2 after 18 overs, but Steve Airey (3-43) and Russ Stewart (4-34) swung the match back to the home team.

Burneside had a 50 partnership between Simon Little (42) and Rob Davies (27) to set them on the victory trail at 80-2 at drinks.

With Little and David Batty both departing, Windermere sensed a chance but Oates (15no) and Steve Cooper (19no) saw Burneside home with 12 overs in hand.

Silverdale did not hang about at Sedgwick as Paul Moffatt’s 6-35 haul led them to an early finish with Sedgwick done and dusted for 75.

Two early losses in Silverdale’s reply did not disturb them as Jordan Sparks and brother Scott ensured the 12-point pick-up with three wickets down.
