Kendal Town Football Club announced Michael Stringfellow is their new full time manager.

The man the fans affectionately know as 'Stringy' has been filling in as caretaker boss following the departure of David Foster earlier this month.

He picked up a win and an away draw in his two games as caretaker.

A statement from the club's Management Committee said: "Kendal Town Football Club wishes to announce that Michael Stringfellow has been appointed as manager of the men's team with immediate effect.

"The club's management committee received 26 very good written applications for the vacant managerial position.

"A careful selection process was followed based upon relevent playing and managerial experience, football qualifications, commitment, a network of contacts, being locally based, having a relevent day job and empathy for the club's friendly, inclusive and community-based culture.

"The club's Management Committee felt that Michael 'Stringy' Stringfellow was the best person from the applicants to take the men's team forward."

Stringfellow has been tasked with reaching the play offs but he will have his work cut out as Kendal Town currently reside in 15th position in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

The statement from the Management Committee also said that Stringfellow will look to include young, local talent whenever possible and that he will appoint an assistant manager in due course.
