The future of girls’ football continued to shine through on a dramatic morning of action.

Kendal United’s Under 14 Girl Team and Appleby produced a classic 4-4 draw on a cold and damp Sunday morning in Kendal.

Both teams that compete in the revamped South Lakes Girls’ League showed plenty of quality in a game that lasted for 60 minutes.

Kendal United, who are managed by Geoff Rowlinson, had made a good start to the game and were ahead after Mia Stewart prodded the ball home, however Appleby soon responded and were level after Jyoti Walters scored.

Once the goal had gone in Kendal surged into a 3-1 lead after Stewart scored her second, before an own goal gave Kendal the advantage.

However Appleby surged into a 4-3 lead during the second half after Jyoti Walters scored a hat trick as the prolific goal scorer finished with four goals.

Kendal United battled back at the death after a goal mouth scramble was prodded home by Kelsey Berry as the spoils were shared on what was a good advert for Local junior Girls Football.

There are six Teams in The under 14 South Lakes Girls League, with Dalton Aces, Dalton Braves, Ulverston Rangers, Appleby, Milnthorpe and Kendal United all competing.
