All the midweek Westmorland League fixtures were meant to return this week, however due to heavy rain a lot of the matches fell foul to the ailments.

However a few games did beat the weather, one of which was the Ibis vs Kendal Utd clash on Tuesday night. It was a crucial game for both sides inparticular Ibis who were looking to put pressure on league leaders Endmoor. In what were tricky conditions for both teams, Kendal Utd came out 2-0 winners, making Ibis’s chances of winning the league harder!

On Wednesday night I went down to the County ground to watch Kendal Countys reserves vs Endmoor KGR. County’s reserves won the match 1-0, against an Endmoor side that had their top goalscorer sent off following an altercation on the pitch. In truth the game could have gone either way, Endmoor had some chances; however some good defending by County helped them along for the victory. If you look at my blog there are a couple of photos I did of that game!

Looking ahead to this Saturday Ibis host Kendal Utd again this time in the Mason and Freeman cup! I will be going down to that game, and I will be interested too see how Ibis respond from the loss and can Kendal Utd continue where they left off on Tuesday night.

Next Tuesday is the big match, where Kendal County host League leaders and current holders Ambleside Utd in what is sure to be a heck of a contest. I haven’t seen much of Ambleside this season, the only time I saw them was in the Invitation Trophy final where the lost 3-0 to Kendal County.

With the season going in the home straight there are a lot of crucial fixtures and cup finals which makes the month of April a footballing festival of non league sport!
