Saturday was a huge game; Kendal knew that after the disappointment of Burscough, victory over Boston was key, if Town were to remain in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Fortunately and after quite a few close shaves, Kendal did hold on to a 1-0 win, which could turn the season.

The lack of games, have somewhat stifled Kendal, and losing at Burscough was a set back, so it was good too see the team back at home for the 1st time in about a month.

It was a cold day, the pitch was hard underneath but quite soft on top and even though Boston will feel unlucky not to have collected anything from the game, it was all about Kendal’s togetherness and Battling qualities which got them through. I was impressed with Glen Steel since Ashy brought him into the team and gave him the captains arm band. He has flourished with the extra responsibility, he is a leader on and off the pitch and those leadership skills were needed on Saturday. Now with the 1-0 win under their belts, Kendal can look ahead with great encouragement, starting with 2 away games in the space of a few days. On Tuesday night they make the relatively short journey to play a struggling Marine side. Marine have lost the last 6 on the bounce, their bad form is mainly down to a spate of injuries and bad luck, with opportunities hitting the cross bar at crucial moments in games. Their manager has resorted to desperate measures in turning their form around bringing in a priest to lift the supposed curse that hangs over Marines Arriva Stadium.

I have never been that supersticious but when you lose that many games I guess anything is worth a shot. They have also signed a former Northern Ireland international striker in Lee Mcevilly.

I am hoping Kendal can build on Saturday and hopefully start well on Tuesday nigh.Following the Marine game they travel to play Matlock managed by former Blackburn Rovers player Mark Atkins, which will prove another difficult test for the team. However despite the toughness of the matches both are deemed as winnable ties, and hopefully Kendal can push on in their quest for automatic promotion.
