BORROWDALE runners dominated Sunday's 4.5 mile Dalehead Fell Race with Thirlmere shepherd Gavin Bland coming out on top.

He won the out and back race in 46-53 with team mate Jonathan Bland trailing in 51 seconds behind. First lady in the 60-strong field was LV50 Kathy Colam who was 36th in 1-10-25.

n Helm Hill Runners will host the first ever English Junior Fell Relay Championship at Sedbergh on Sunday.

The event is open to any team of runners comprising one under 12, one under 14 and one under 16 (ages as at 1st January 2005).

Boys, girls and mixed teams may enter and prizes will be awarded for the first four teams in each category.

English championship medals will be presented by the Fell Runners Association to the first three boys and first three girls' teams representing English athletic clubs.

The event is staged from the Peoples Hall in Sedbergh and starts at 11.30am with an open race for under-10s, followed by the relays at 12 noon and an open fell race for seniors at 1.45 pm.

Entries for all events will be taken on the day and supporters are welcome to come along and watch. Refreshments will be on sale throughout the event.
