HOT from their successes in Sweden, Kendal Judo Club juniors were back in action - although not in such an exotic destination when they took part in the Lancashire Championships.

However their trip to Shadsworth near Blackburn had a similar result with all 15 players coming home with a medal. Leading the way with a gold medal apiece were Nye Greasley, Lauren Fox, Ben Howe and sister Poppy Howe.

There could have been two more gold medals with Daisy Schwarzer meeting Lauren Fox in the final of the same category and Ellie Judson coming up against Poppy Howe in the semi-final and having to settle for bronze.

Other medals were Barnie Coxon and Nathan O’Sullivan who won silvers with bronze going to Robbie Kincart, Finlay Webb, Matilda Hall, Michael Letheren, Ben Arrowsmith, Kieran Ryan and Joe Plenderleith.

Coaches for the day, Nick Hill and Danny Carr, were extremely pleased with all the players’ efforts.

The squad will be in action again on Sunday when they will be competing on home ground against over 200 players from all over the north of England and Scotland in the Kendal Coloured Belt competition.
