A TEAM of junior golfers from Kendal Golf Club took the title at the annual Cumbria Junior Team Event held at Seascale Golf Club on Easter Monday for the second year running, and for the third time in four years.

Sixteen county-wide teams competed, with Kendal Golf Club entering two teams of four players.

Both teams scored well in spite of the very windy and challenging conditions. Henry Boyle (team and junior club captain), younger brother George Boyle, Harrison Kay and Freddie Horner won the overall event with a total of 103 points.

George Boyle had the best score for the winning team with 38 points - this was his first time representing the junior team and his first round at Seascale.

Josh Coates, who played with Ryan Whitehead, Dana Billington and Toby Nelson, also returned a great score of 41 points in his first outing for Kendal's junior team.

Junior team manager Andrew Wilkinson said: "It's testament to the strength and depth in our junior section that we can put out two strong teams and return good scores. I was very impressed with all of our players who faced hostile weather and a tough course but came out smiling and successful.

"It's good to see some new faces in the team enjoying the game and playing well, we hope it encourages more junior golfers to head our way and give the sport a try."
