THE Brathay Windermere Marathon is set for its largest field of runners in May with more than 1,000 people already signed up for the annual race.
The marathon around Windermere, was recently voted the second best in the UK and already 1,017 runners have entered the run on May 17.
But organisers, the Brathay Trust, say they have capacity for more entries and race director Scott Umpleby is keen to push for even greater numbers.
He said: “This is arguably one of the most scenic, and challenging, marathons in Europe with runners having to complete a gruelling 26.2 mile course that is defined by its undulating nature.
“Runners tell us that they not only love the scenery but that they also appreciate the extremely professional way in which we organise the event. We certainly cater for their every need.”
Umpleby added: “It would be great if we could secure another couple of hundred more entries.”
