WINDERMERE ran out comfortable winners against Creighton but only after the tenth placed side put on a spirited display.

The fourth placed Mere started the game poorly.

They were missing two of their regular back row which forced their number 10 to make far too many tackles.

Mere missed two good opportunities from penalties and could not get on the score sheet.

Creighton were unlucky not to be ahead at the half way mark as they had a try disallowed on the stoke of half time.

It was still 0-0 when the teams went in for the break.

The second half was a different story.

Windermere started brightly showing real energy and purpose.

After a line out ten metres from the Creighton end zone saw a textbook catch and drive from Harrison score the first points of the match in the far left hand corner.

It proved too wide to convert.

A few minutes later, a rattled Creighton gave away another penalty which was accompanied by a yellow card for their full back and this time Windermere's Crawford made no mistake with the boot bringing the score to 8-0.

Five minutes later they took a scrum against the head and Benson took the ball from the ensuing ruck.

He made a bullocking run, gaining a lot of ground and getting behind the Creighton defence before neatly popping the ball to the swiftly approaching Hodgson.

Hodgson avoided contact easily and scored between the posts and Crawford added the extra points.

Windermere crossed the line again.

Crawford slotted another penalty before, in a last minute attack, Bertie Hodgson got possession on the half way line and skipped past disinterested Creighton defenders to add another try which Crawford duly converted taking the final score 25 - 0.
