KENDAL coach Ian Vortman gives his weekly view: SATURDAY was one of those days where I just wanted the earth to swallow me up.

We lost a game that we were 100 per cent capable of winning and when I got home I found out that Scotland had beaten my beloved Springboks.

Just as I was thinking that life couldn’t get any worse Wagner started singing on X Factor.

When we play with width and direction we are blowing opponents away with our pace and mobility.

Our problem is that we are conceding too many soft points and making too many unforced errors when the situation demands cool heads.

Our challenge during training this week will be to sort out our problems around the breakdown where we are still conceding too many turnovers.

We will work on rucking technique and emphasise the need to commit numbers to these tackle situations, which should see us turn in a more fluid performance next week.

Harrogate are next up and all involved at Kendal enjoy the trip to one of the most famous clubs in England.

If we are to win we will have to play with discipline and have respect for the ball as the Harrogate side contain players who thrive on turnover ball and could stretch us on the counter-attack.

If we play to our potential we will win away for the first time this season to a team above us on the league, and if that happens, not even Wagner will be able to take the smile off my face.
