Bar owner left with bleed on brain after late-night altercation

A bar owner has given a warning after an altercation at his bar left him in hospital with a bleed on the brain.

Josh Macaulay, who runs Ye Olde Fleece Inn in Kendal, gave chase to a punter after an altercation in his bar.

But in a scuffle down an alleyway, he was sent head-first into a wall and knocked unconscious.

The Bridge Hotel, Kendal to reopen after plans accepted

An historic Kendal inn and town landmark is set for a much-anticipated revival after South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) approved plans for its refurbishment, extension and reopening as a hostelry.

Standing proud, but currently derelict, on Stramongate Bridge by Kendal town centre lies The Bridge Hotel, dating back to around 1738, for which a planning application was submitted by Levens-based funfair operator Taylor's in 2018.

Kendal's newly opened Fold Cafe thrives as more people are welcomed

One of Kendal’s newest cafes is rapidly becoming a social and remote working hub for the town.

Chelsea Eddy-Waland runs Fold Cafe on the Beezon Road Trading Estate with husband Jack.

The cafe is attached to Fell Crossfit, which they also own and run.

They started Fell CrossFit three years ago and opened Fold as a space for participants to relax after a workout and as a cafe for the wider public.

Corus Hotels, which owns the luxurious Belsfield Hotel on Kendal Road in Bowness-on-Windermere, announced the appointment of Mark Starkey, just as the hotel is gearing up for the bustling Bowness tourist season.

Mark has over 25 years of experience working in the hospitality industry, having previously worked throughout the UK and around the world.
