IT’s been another busy month of court cases at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court resulting in individuals being banned from the roads for drink and drug driving.

Ulverston man handed ban and fine after drink driving on A593

AN ULVERSTON man has been fined over £1,500 after being caught drink driving.

William Springthorpe, 33, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to driving his Ford Kuga on the A593 while over the legal alcohol limit on February 15.

Janine McClure banned after fleeing crash while over drink-drive limit

A WOMAN has been sentenced for failing to stop after causing a road traffic collision while over three times the legal drink driving limit.

Janine McClure was drink driving when she drove off after crashing her BMW 120d into a BMW three-series on July 17 2023, South Cumbria Magistrates Court heard.

Barrow teen lied to police during drug driving investigation

A TEENAGER obstructed a police investigation by continuously providing the name of his twin brother after being caught drug driving without any third-party insurance, a court heard.

Harrison Dutton, 18, was stopped by police at 2.55 pm on August 22 last year while driving a Volkswagen Golf on Rawlinson Street, Barrow.

Milnthorpe man caught drink driving whilst twice over legal limit

A MAN has been disqualified from driving and ordered to pay a fine after being caught driving while twice the legal alcohol limit.

Matthew Davidson, of Owlet Ash Fields in Milnthorpe, gave a lowest reading of 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.

Man caught drink driving after romantic evening in the Lake District

A FATHER who was enjoying a romantic evening with his girlfriend in the Lake District has been sentenced after he was caught drink driving.

Joshua James, 33, was stopped by road traffic officers on the A591 near Staveley on February 16 this year due to damage to his car, South Cumbria Magistrates Court heard.

Kendal man caught driving whilst over 3x cannabis limit in Windermere

A MAN who was driving whilst over three times a legal drug limit has been banned and ordered to pay an expensive fine.

Rhys Lewis Clark, of Castle Rise in Kendal, was stopped by police whilst driving his Ford Transit van on Victoria Street in Windermere.
