About St Bees School
Founded in the year 1583, St Bees School is very proud of its history - we are a lively caring, co-educational school which caters for day, full, weekly or flexi-boarders from the age of 4 to 18.
Set in 150 acres of private ground, in a wonderful position in the heart of St Bees, a small, safe coastal village on the edge of the stunning Lake District National Park. Our pupils not only benefit from a high standard of education they have all that the great outdoors has to offer, on their doorstep. Our proximity to the sea and Lake District provides tremendous opportunities for outdoor pursuits and with great sports facilities including a swimming pool and a 9-hole golf course.
In August, we received our best set of A–Level results on record, with a 100% pass rate and 43% A*-A. These outstanding results placed us as the ‘Highest Achieving Boarding School in the North West’ (Telegraph A-Level Results Table 2013). At GCSE Level we achieved a pass rate of 100% and 43% A*-A.
Introducing the St Bees School Weekly Boarding Initiative
This initiative offers parents the opportunity to apply for a limited number of weekly boarding places at the School for the price of a day place. Weekly boarding takes the pressure off parents and children on working days and leaves the weekends for family time. During the week students can concentrate on their studies and enjoy building rewarding friendships whilst still under the watchful eye of caring and supportive staff.
Living at St Bees during the week is a good way for a child to experience being away from home whilst still under the watchful eye of caring and supportive house staff. We would be delighted to welcome any boys or girls who would like to try a boarding experience at St Bees, they can come for one or two nights, free of charge to see whether it’s for them.
