Sixth Form

We see our Sixth Form as being the final stage in our young people’s journey through the School as they look forward to the challenges of University or full-time employment. The Sixth Form experience is one based on excellent academic standards where we encourage our students to aim high whilst at the same time continuing to offer them a wide range of challenging experiences and opportunities both inside and beyond the classroom. In common with the rest of the School, Sixth Form teaching continues to centre on the individual and it encourages students to work and research independently and to think for themselves – vital skills for University and the world of employment. Members of our Sixth Form are seen as the leaders of our community, as befits the most senior pupils within the School, they are offered many opportunities to take responsibility for others. As well as the roles of Prefect and Sports Captains, there are chances to support other pupils with their academic studies or to provide a helping hand to those who need some extra support. In August, we received our best set of A–Level results on record, with a 100% pass rate and 43% A*-A. These outstanding results placed us as the ‘Highest Achieving Boarding School in the North West’ (Telegraph A-Level Results Table 2013).
