Senior School

At the heart of our Senior School is the house system where each pupil belongs to one of our four houses, overseen by the Housemaster/Housemistress and under the personal care of their House Tutor. As a close-knit and friendly family community, St Bees has a strong reputation for both outstanding pastoral care and high quality teaching. In the recently published Government national league tables, St Bees was placed as one of the highest performing Independent Boarding Schools in the North of England, a real testament to the outstanding efforts of our pupils and staff.

We believe that our success comes from offering our pupils the opportunity to thrive in a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment. We help all of our pupils achieve their full academic potential with a rich and varied curriculum, supported by talented teachers and specialist facilities. As they journey through the School we want to help our pupils discover and develop skills, knowledge and an overall love of learning that will remain with them forever. For the very able pupils, we offer a programme of enrichment activities and for those who need to have more individual assistance to give them the confidence to succeed, we offer the help of our outstanding CReSTeD Teaching and Learning Centre. At St Bees School everyone is able to progress and succeed.

In August, at GCSE Level we achieved a pass rate of 100% and 43% A*-A.
